FLAVOR

A celebration of one of Aotearoa's most treasured native botanicals. Traditionally used in Rongoā Māori, kūmarahou is paired with locally sourced New Zealand honey and traditionally brewed kombucha to create a beautifully balanced drink with delicate floral notes, gentle sweetness and a crisp savoury, refreshing finish.

Naturally fermented with live cultures using premium organic tea, this handcrafted kombucha captures the unique flavours of native New Zealand while honouring generations of mātauranga and craftsmanship. Brewed in Ōtautahi, every bottle reflects Mauriora's commitment to nurturing living cultures, supporting wellbeing, and showcasing the extraordinary botanicals of Aotearoa.

The Science

Independent metabolomics research has confirmed that Mauriora's traditional brewing process retains naturally occurring bioactive compounds from native botanicals in the finished beverage. Learn more about the science behind Mauriora.

FAQs

Does kombucha contain alcohol?

In New Zealand all brewed soft drinks must be below 1.15% ABV. We ensure Mauriora kombucha is below this.

While the alcohol content in kombucha is generally low, it's essential to be aware of it, especially if you have concerns about alcohol consumption due to health, medication, or pregnancy.

All naturally brewed kombucha can contain alcohol, but the alcohol content is typically relatively low. During fermentation, microorganisms consume the sugars in the tea and produce various compounds, including alcohol and carbon dioxide.

The alcohol content in kombucha can vary depending on factors such as the fermentation time, storage and the specific brewing process used by the manufacturer.

Is Mauriora Kombucha pasteurised?

No! We prefer it this way so that the friendly symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts can thrive giving us our delicious gut-loving tonic.

How much kombucha should I drink?

Ultimately, the amount of kombucha you should drink depends on your personal preferences and how your body responds to it. Listen to your body, start slowly, and adjust your consumption based on your own comfort and tolerance levels. If you have any concerns or questions about incorporating kombucha into your diet, it's a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or nutritionist for personalised guidance.

What exactly is kombucha?

Kombucha is a naturally fermented probiotic beverage made by taking brewed tea, adding sugar and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) along with a concentrated tea starter liquid. The friendly yeasts, bacteria and microbes consume the sugar creating the effervescent gut loving beverage which is kombucha.
